Hello everyone,
I am the owner of Canadianreef.com, we have just opened less then a week ago so not a lot of people will have experience with us yet, but there are a few out there that has, so far we have sent out around 5 orders, and everyone emailed us back and could not be happier, so hopefully I will have the pleasure of dealing with some of you and talking with everyone, because as you and I both know it seems that every site out there is US based :)
I will also personally insure you that you will be more then happy with us, if by any chance you are not we will do everything in our power to make it better
Thanks

I had a look at the site, and am impressed with the zoanthids. A number of us in Calgary have for some time evinced a lot of interest in zoanthids. here is a chance for us to get together, and order some. I hope it happens soon. I for one am ready to order right now.
Cool site  . I'm up for some Zoo's as well.

Thank you everyone for your intrest, this is really what I would like to see and hear, for I am as you must have been able to tell already very into Reefs and I have been for many years now, but I have always had a hard time to find good quality corals in Canada, most of our zoos in our collection we had to collect for years upon years and spend a fortune on, I am so glad that we are able to share them with you all.

I guess we will soon see how good these people are, as I sent in an order for some zoos totalling more than $200.00 so I can save on shpping and packing costs. After all it is worth a few bucks to get some nice zoos.

$200!!! Are you starting a zoos farm, Bob?? Wow... let me know when they spread onto some nearby rubble...

Why not?? Zoos rock especially for those of us with smaller systems. I thought I might as well order a bunch, as he does not have all that many in stock.

I think that you might be onto something though... kind of anxious to see how this goes for you.

Well at this moment I am exchanging emails with the company owner. He says he will ship the order on Wednesday with guaranteed delivery before 10:30 AM. He says it will be delivered to my door. How I don't know
Quinn

Well that would mean UPS or Fedex, but I've never heard of someone shipping livestock via courier in Canada. Sounds scary.

He now says it will be sent by UPS by air, and a carrier will deliver to my door by 10:30 AM. He says the corals will be in the box for 14 hours, and that they do not mind that at all. I guess we will have to trust him since he has done this before.

Not as scary as you might think. The green carpet that is now in Canadian Man's tank came to me by FedEx from Toronto, fall of '99 when I bought it. It's actually not too bad. They (FedEx) have late night depots where you can drop a package off as late as 10pm and it will still be able to get guaranteed next day service (which is delivered before 10:30). So it was in transit maybe about 12 hours (because it arrived well before 10 Calgary time).

Yes no worries everyone, here is an example I shipped out a Package to Newfoundland thursday I dropped it off at UPS at 7:30pm and it got to NF at 10:43am the next day at his door where he signed for it, and added the corals to his tank at 11:32 I got an email from him saying everything was great and the zoos are almost all open, UPS is not that scary the only scary part is if no one is home to accept the package.

Hello Devin,
firstly good luck to you! Is there any way of finding out whether your delivery with UPS would work for Whistler, BC, V0N 1B4?
I ask because generally UPS would go from you to Vancouver and then 2 hours North to Whistler. If they are still able to turn around for next day then I might like to place an order.
thanks,
Rob

Chad, I would be interested in an order with you. However I only get to Vancouver about twice per month, so if it worked for you I would have to ask if you could quarantine my order so that I could drive down?
Let me know,
Rob

I wonder if J&L, Seacare, SWC could be convinced to ship via courier. Lot easier than me driving to Calgary or Edmonton to pick up my orders.

Hey Quinn,
When I've talked to J&L they let me know that they are waiting for UPS to guarantee live shipments, or something to that extent. So I generally get my stuff sent up via Grayhound, mind you I live in a small town so it's no big deal really.
It is a shame though, when I lived in the states it was so simple, ordered anything I wanted online with overnight shipping, no muss, no fuss, and always great guarantee's!
Best,
Rob

Well all this worry about UPS really happened today for the first time, I was sending a shipment to rcipema next day by 10:30am, and sure enough UPS redirected it the wrong way, not a total loss we managed to get it back from UPS put everything back into the system repack and send it out for tomorrow by 10:30am, now this was the first time this has happened, and hopefully never again, I have been in contact with rcipema hopefully he is understanding.
Thanks

Hello Devin,
Yes, I believe it was Ryan who called me twice today to keep me informed on what happened and what was going to happen which was appreciated  Once things are out of your hands anything can happen. I also give you credit for mentioning this on site that things aren't always perfect.
Cheers till tomorrow, Ande (Mike)

Well I have never been one to keep things secret, there was a problem today which I was not happy about at all, I had make over 20 phone calls to locate this package and arrange to get it picked up, where I needed to drive over 60KM to get to the UPS Hub and get it, unpack it all for a few hours, everything opened up by the way :p and repack it all drive 60KM to drop it off again so it makes it to Alberta for 10:30AM, but its what I needed to do, I am hopeing that the zoos are all okay because they have just been though a lot of stress, if there is any problems please let me know right away and I will make it right
Thanks for the kind words mike :)

Well after the 24 hour delay, the zoos arrived at 0945 yesterday. Devin did an admirable job in getting them here. Unfortunately UPS seems to have paid very little attention to the "FRAGILE" stickers on the box. In one case the jostling the box received caused a sharp rock to puncture the DOUBLE bag, and empty it. In addition that frag fell off the rock. That also happened to another frag. I found one frag right away. The other was located in the bag after returning from work. There was no water in the bag, but I put the frag in the tank anyway, and it was opening up nicely. These things were all beyong Devin's control. It needs to be remembered that we are at the mercy of the shipping company. When I noticed the wet box, I could have refused the shipment, and made a claim against UPS. However, because zoos are hard to find in Canada, I gambled, and the gamble appears to have paid off.

I talked to UPS about 100 times over the last little while and we worked up a deal with shipping live stock with them, they now will touch as little amount of hands as possible, less hands transfered less damange to the box :p
But Rob, I am glad everything turned out, if there is anything I can do for you please let me know

That will be a peoblem. As you may know, or not know, it takes zoanthids a long time to become fully acclimatised. Therefore they do not fully open up for awhile. In addition my camera is not worth a hoot for closeup work. :frown: :frown:
I am ordering tonight.. if anyone else wants to pony up for some zoos.. please take a look really quick and PM me.. so I can get this order in.
Thanks

Anybody else ordering soon? If so I wouldn't mind tagging on an extra order to help offset shipping. I only want one or two zoo frags so it wouldn't really be economical to pay $40 shipping on $35-$70 worth of zoos.

Thanks to Chad for organizing the group order.
Here is a pic of the zoos I received. Day two in the tank. Unfortunately day one was spent face first in the sand due to a over zealous Tang.
