Well its finaly here my 90 Gallon tank! time to play with the big dogs:biggrin:
I went through quite a bit of self inflicted anxiety wondering where to put this bad boy and wondered what or how many pieces of furnature had to go and what the heck was I doing! but with a bit of moving things around the antique sideboard lost its place in my kitchen and became a nice stand for a flatscreen tv in the livingroom and a small table moved upstairs into the guest room and my son accuired a 36 inch tv for gaming....he has yet to resurface:wink:
I will have to mod the canopy if I want to keep it and I was lucky enough to pick up some awesome metal halide lights used. Its just figuring how to mount them because they are heavy. My sump is being built today by Anthony (lucky me:mrgreen:) I was hoping for one like his where you can have more fish below but I dont have enough room.I still have to paint the back black and will have to buy more sand an live rock. The goal is to move the contents of the red sea max to the 90 and I might still keep the 29 Biocube for shrimp and gobies.

Well put Both Kivu and Boo in the tank and told them to behave LOL and boo quite liked it and Kivu liked the echo of her voice so much she started to sing LOLhttp://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w187/starscreams/90%20Gallon%20Build/DSC03963-1.jpg

These are the lights just sitting on top of the canopy after I removed the door and inside brackets.I do not think its strong enough to hold th weight so more than likely it will need to be mounted.I will paint the back black today I think.

Boy you are gutsy!!! I would think the cat would have a nice birdy appetizer.

Nice looking setup

my cat gets smacked when he goes on top of my lid, dont want him to get any ideas when i remove the lid and put a hanging pendant on there, putting some egg crate there to keep him away from it

Thanks! Well Kivu can hold her own and these two hang out together all day.Kivu calls Boo a hairball which is the same thing she called my last kitty. If Boo is upstairs Kivu will call her and Boo comes running, they are so funny to watch.Boo likes to watch fish but unless it comes in a can and says fancy feast she is not interested. Most Himalayans are really laid back and snuggly and not much of a threat to anything.

Is that a cat-fish in there?

I guess I better get cracking on building your custom sump.

Looks great!

I'll be watching your thread because I'm going to switch my 90 Gallon FW into a reef as well.

What are you going to do for overflows?

I'll be going over this week to drill in the back one or two holes. Not sure, but may do a Herbie. Have an acrylic overflow box from another tank that I will silicone onto this one.

Oh so much work and lots of support from my fishy friends :) it all came together so nice, sump looks great plumbing works excellent and the lights look fantastic mounted from the ceiling.I ripped the top off of the canopy so that I can just slide it on or off as needed and lots of airflow.I combined contents from both the Red Sea Max and the Biocube.I would like to add an Angel fish and maybe a Tang in the future but all the guys in there right now are happy.Bonus for me I found my peppermint shrimp living in the back of the Biocube during the transfer.Have not seen that lazy shrimp since Oct of last year lol.

Looking really good ! I think you should lose the canopy or lower the lights into it a little more. Looks like it could be closer to the water surface anyways. While the canopy looks nice and matches the stand, without it working on the tank will be so much easier. Going to much larger set-up is so exciting, good job.

Yes the Tank is about 5.6 inches high and if you inclue the lights 6.6 high.I have the lights mounted 11 inches above the top of the tank,I did that so I could aquascape without getting burned on the lights.I can ajust them.Any ideas on how much clearance I should have above the tank? I still want to be able to reach in if I need too.

Lunch at Sushi Oyama Thursday. Sounds good. Robert will be getting in a shipment on Wed. & Thurs. this week as well. I don't think I have to work that day, so we can hit the stores after lunch.

Well Finally got my dream bubble coral! it is a very striking green color. My pics dont do it any justice,I need to learn how to take proper ones.I also added a fish I have wanted for a long time..a Hippo tang! right now she is still hiding and only comes out to eat or when I am not in the room. One could only hope she would be as social as my hogfish who seems to like being in every photo:biggrin:
