I was given a electric sump pump(still in box),it's 1/3 horse pwr and rated for 1200 gal per hour.My question is could i use it in a large sump for my 300gal that i'm building. :question:

most likely not. I have not seen a sump pump that did not have metal internals exposed to the liquid. you want to find a pump that has no metal that will come in contact with the salt water, so check out the inside of the sump pump and go from there.

Well the question is what are the parts made of. Can it handle a semi-corrosive environment? Also you need to consider how much it costs to run. For example a hot tub pump has fantastic output capability but the downside is some serious (and I mean serious) power consumption. So check the amperage/wattage draw, otherwise you may be in for a real surprise when you get your first power bill... :eek:
