hey,
just picked up some LR and found this guy cruising around shortly after.. thoughts on species? good guy?

Take it out an look for a siphon canal. Probably a whelk.

We got several on our live rock when we started up, never had any problems, we still have at least one (after 3 years) and it just pops up every one in a while. From the research I did when they first appeared, they are questionable. I would monitor it and see, remove it if it becomes a problem, FWIW these ones never multiplied in our tank.

wow great pic, looks exactly like what i have, no idea what it is but it's never caused me any problems, just cruises around lookin neat!

That looks like a little Nassarius... drop him in the sand and see if it tries to bury itself.

if it is fairly small it is probably a columbellid snail. I have a bunch in my tank, they seem to reproduce. They don't bother anything and graze diatoms and microalgae from the glass and rocks. They are good and free addition to your CUC.
