Hey guys, I'm going to be getting a 40g or 50g to replace my current 20g (Corals are almost touching in some places and quickly running out of room :D ). I was wondering if you could use two different types of bulbs on the Work Horse ballasts, say Power Compact and NO Flourescents? Anybody using this setup or knows something on this it would be greatly appreciated ;) . Thanks guys :D

Also what would you prefer 2-55w 6500k or 2 NO 2 x's OVERDRIVIN 6500k's? Can't quite deside  ...Thx ;)

I should clarify a little better... Can you use NO's and PC's at the same time? The guy at Al-brite wasn't very knowledgable on this subject :( ...

hey, I am not sure about this either, but I would suggest you go to WORKHORSE BALLAST (http://www.fulham.com/wh.html) and mabe ask them. If I knew I would help ya out but I have never tried this so I cannot answer.

Hey,

From my DIY experience, I would go with the two Compact Flourescents at 55W each versus the overdriven NOs. Albrite carries Panasonic 55 Watt Compact Flourescent bulbs that have a manufacturer rating of over 8000 lumens per bulb - which is a lot when comparing that to a 30 Watt NO bulb at around 2000 lumens.

BTW - the Panasonic 55 Watt PCs come in 6700K, which appears to be 'quite white' with a little blue.

Hi,

I would go with the 55W PCs - its a bit safer and more conventional.

However, 80W NOs (aka 4x Overdriven NOs F32T8s) can blow past 55W PCs. And tubes are cheaper ($4 for T8s vs ~$?? for PCs). I think the PCs are $15...not too sure about it.

55W PCs are rated closer to 5500 lumens. They may be 8000 lumens in the first 100 hours...but they drop off pretty fast. Overdrive 4x are 6500-6800 lumens @ 80W.

Thanks guys, I went to Revy(noHome Depot in Abby yet) today and picked up a couple Sylvania Daylights and hooked them up a 2x's power and I think the PC's(already have 2-55w 9325k) blow them away so that answers that question :D . Albrite was closed today when I called so I'll call monday and E-mail Fulham tonight(thanks Stircrazy). Probably shouldn't be a problem maybe I'll buy it and try it or I could just use my orignal set up of 2x 36" 03's (these look awesome) and buy a Workhorse 5 for my PC's. But what I really want to do is use the Workhorse 7 220w max to run 2-55w PC's and 2-36" at 55W.
