Plan has always been to retire with sand between my toes, now have a place to do it. 3 hectares of beach front with a small coconut plantation and rice farm on Guimaras (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guimaras).

Don't have a house yet but Canreef members will be welcome.

Wow, beautiful spot to retire. Is this happening soon? Quite a change from Alberta weather.

Sweet! 3 hectares, that is a big chunk of land. Makes my condo & dive shop plans in Mexico look pretty small.
Congrats, I hope everything will work out for you as planned.

Recently had a line on another place that was a little bit more interesting in that the beach was sort of crescent shaped with cliffs on either side making it private.

Issues were though nearest road was a kilometer away, beach too narrow to build on so house would have been on the bluff behind (carving stairs up 20m of limestone to access), no water, no power and the tiny problem the only proof of ownership the seller could produce was he paid property taxes on it in 1980. Ended up it was now a timber reserve with severe restrictions on development.

Since have a while until able to actually retire, plan is to start with a large cabana type place close to the beach, then building a more permanent type retirement home little more inland. Still would keep the cabana, idea it becoming a guest house. Figuring about 20K for the main place.
