So you are about 40x per hour which is fine. My last tank ran close to 80x turnover.

I think that anything we do in our little boxes of water for flow pales in comparison to what mother nature can do... as long as your sand stays somewhat stationary I say up the flow...now this will depend on what you keep as far as corals and fish(in some cases) goes....watch your fishes tails...if they use it a lot, then they are working hard....clownfish are not really the most graceful swimmers, but mine swims head on into my vortech (prolly 2800ghp)

The only thing is that he has a cowfish, which is a really poor swimmer & cannot deal with strong directional flow very well.

yea thats true anthony im keeping a close eye on him, he doesnt swim around much tho so im going to see how it goes for a couple of days and sees if he gets annoyed from it

softies do not like high water flow... same goes with LPS ...
yes i still have my box fish ... it doesnt mind ... it stays in areas where there is less flow .. i have created a corner in the tanks where the flow is low for my clowns and the box fish ... there is also the whole back side of the tank behind the rocks where the rest of the fish that do not like flow chill and relax

the lps are place in an area of the tank where just the wave maker current hits it ... so it doesnt get consistant flow ... but random back and forth movement
