Hi,

I have to re seal a bit in my tank and have read that it is important the silicone is aquarium safe. Is this true? And if so where can I get some aquarium safe black silicone?

They Stock the All-Glass Sealant.

I believe you can use normal sealant but have never tried it?

As long as it is 100% silicone it is OK just make sure there are no additives

GE door and window #1 is 100% silicone and aquarium safe. Available pretty much anywhere and runs for about $4 per tube.

Are you just redoing the large seams or the structural inner seams?

If it's all the seams, I'd use a stronger product - GE RTV108 is what was recommended to me. You probably won't find it at HD or a local hardware store, but Acklands-Grainger should have it (there are 5 locations in Calgary).

Thanks for the info everyone.

I am only re attaching a black insert that is fixed to the back wall inside the tank (and creating a seal between it and the overflow) so I think regular silicone should be fine.
