I see a lot of people using these for their aquascaping, think i'd like to give it a try myself... Does anyone know where to pick these up in town? any idea on the cost? Thanks!

I got mine from IPP in calgary, and have a couple of complete rods left over if you'd like to grab them. One rod is 1/2" one is 5/8 inch. Both are 6' in length.

Thanks for the offer, I'll have to do some planning and see what I need. didn't think to use 1/2" pvc.

I've got some 1/2" pvc leftover you can have. Couple 4 foot lengths. It's so cheap to buy it might not be worth it but it's yours if you want. I think the pvc is a lot less flexible. May or may not be good for what you want to do.
