My clowns and anemone have moved on to a bigger and better home and I can finally reclaim my cube tank. Over the last year the aiptasia and cotton candy algae have had there way with the tank...today I take it back :twised:

Once I've finished cleaning up the tank, I'm going to put a few big rocks in that are covered in hairy mushrooms and I'm looking for ideas of small, interesting fish to add. I'm thinking maybe a goby and pistol shrimp pair but other then that I'm wide open to ideas

You should look into a candy hogfish. They stay relatively small and are a great shot of color in the tank. Mine hid a bit at first but is out in the open full time now, cruising the rocks looking for snacks and right in there with the big guns at dinner time. Hmm, then again you say pistol shrimp? He might be a nice light snack for him. I'm not sure.

Maybe a midas blenny? blue/yellow assessor?

 You're not kidding when you say "minimalist" I was at least expecting a rock or two

Glad you are able to reclaim your tank. As for fish I've been really liking small reef safe wrasses lately.

Christy, even if I don't get the pistol shrimp I think I will have other shrimp in the tank so I think I'll pass on the hogfish.

I would love to get a trio of blue flasher wrasses but nobody seems to get any females in

Couldn't you order some in from somewhere? or would that be too expensive?

Everything I get has to be ordered in and I've tried...Ocean aquatics was supposed to be looking for me back in Jan. but I never did hear back from them

I think Ken at Blue world can/will ship out fish. He has good suppliers and seems to be able to get in most any kind of fish. Plus he will make sure the fish are eating and healthy before shipping them. You could pm him and ask.

Problem is, anything outside of the lower mainland is at least 2 day shipping. The only thing I trust to survive that long in shipping are zoos and Snappy's frags

That sucks, is there no way to get it shipped to you faster? At least I would like to believe it could be done but with livestock 2 days is too long to risk it. You would think there would be some way to overnight it somehow.....

I think chalk bass are totally underrated little fish, I'm not sure if they eat shrimp tho

Marie, check out some of the Basslets and Assessors. Beautiful little fishes. I'm seriously thinking about setting up another tank with these guys.

Umm, no thanks.
Living in Grande prairie for 2 years, I learned that I didn't like the cold. I was offered a house in Saskatchewan for $5000 and I turned that down too

Bob got some fish today, there was some green sided high fin anthias that looked kinda neat, stop in and check those out.
