Does anyone know if a JBJ 12 gallon is a tempered tank?
Can the back be drilled?

There are a few posts that can be searched here for how to ID tempered glass. Basically it involves polarized sunglasses and looking for a tempered pattern in the glass, same as a car's rear window.

That's how I always test, polerized sunglasses and have a look it doesn't have to be a checkered pattern sometimes it is just dark stripes or spots.
Buy a pair (you'll need them anyways) $20. have a look at some different windows. You'll see the difference.

Is that not the 5mm glass cube if it is for sure it is tempered.

Yes you can i bought a JBJ 12 gallon DX.
And have it pumbed into my main tank.
Its a 3/4 inch hole right through the back of the tank near the bottom and have a durso plumbed in.
I plan on putting one for the return line but havent gotten around to it.
For now i just have a hose dropped inside the lid nice and secure like.
see the pics to see that you can do a 12gallon JBJ, I should state that yes i may of had the only one in the world that can be drilled but it was a breeze.

I have also drilled a fluval edge and can say it is not tempered on the back either.
