Hi

I have the opportunity to purchase either a 210 gallon or a 125 gallon tank. both are relatively inexpensive (both come with stands). space is not an issue. I was just wondering what your thoughts were. what tank should i go for?

Thanks!

Love my 210g. The height makes it a great display tank (but be prepared for wet arm pits). 2' wide is a minimum for me now with reef tanks (whereas the 126g is probably only 18"). You'll find aquascaping is harder when only 18" is available.

Drawbacks. For a reef, 250w vs getting away with 175w or 150w if you go MH. Lots more Live Rock to buy.

If cost of outfitting the tanks is not a factor in the decision-making proces, 210g is the way to go.

I agree you will have some more cost to put together, but once going the larger tank is no harder nore expensive to keep running. with the extra space you will have more room for fish and coral.

Thanks guys.

i am looking to build up the tank over time (of course) so cost is not a huge factor... one think the 210 gallon comes with is an over flow and sump while the 125 does not

I'd say get the wider of the two. I've always wished I had the 24" of tank width to work with.

You'll definitely want an overflow (drilled preferably) and sump. So much easier to deal with all the extraneous bits and pieces (heater, skimmer etc).
