Hey all,

I'm currently dripping in kalk at night and turning it off in the morning. I've heard of people using vinegar so that it doesn't affect the ph.. How do you do this, and does this mean that you can drip all the time? Any suggestions?

Well, people add vinegar to kalk in order to dissolve more calcium, not for changing PH of kalkwasser. I don't have my bookmark right now. But do a search for "Craig Bingman, Kalkwasser, vinegar" on the internet and you will find the answer.

George is correct. Acetic acid (in the amounts used) does not affect the pH of the CaOH2 solution. It merely increases the solubility of the calcium hydroxide. It also allows for a more complete reaction, making the solution less likely to precipitate. This, I believe, is due to the available carbon in the acetic acid molecule.
When I dosed kalk, it was in my make-up water, which ran all day. No adverse pH swings were observed.
Craig has all the info you'll need for a better explanation of this.
