View Full Version : Parting out my Tanks

I am starting on a project to renovate my whole basement. Even though 70’s style décor is back, I am growing tired of it. Hell, there was shag carpet in the living room when I moved in – I digress.

I am also tired of the way I have my tanks kludged together and I think this is a good time to set everything straight. I want to divest myself of all my aquarium paraphernalia and begin anew after my renovation.

The current plan is to build the new tank into the wall that backs onto a work (junk) room. It could take me up to a year to get back into the hobby, but we all know that the addiction is strong. This time, planning will be the key ingredient.

As I am willing to part everything out I have to do it in a way that will not stress my current inhabitants.

Anyway here is what I have and I am open to offers.

All fish are very healthy and plump. I have not added any fish in the last eight months. Sizes are approximate. Sorry no pictures.

$30 Yellow Tang - 5”

*** Free Bristle Worms with every purchase while quantities last.***

You’ll have to forgive my knowledge on Corals.

$15 Green Button Polyps Rock (12 or so polyps)

$50 Large Beige Leather w/green polyps 8” dia., attached to large Tonga Branch Rock.

$30 Large Blue Mushroom rock w/Halimeda and something new that I haven’t identified yet. Everyone that has seen it says that is very intertesting, but they don't know what it is either.

Tanks - not drilled.

$75 Hagen 80g 48x24x16
$50 Black Wooden Stand for Hagen 80g
$100 For Tank and stand together *** Tenatively Teevee

$50 Hagen Tropiquarium 88, 40g 33x18x14.5, comes with hood.
$30 Black Wooden Stand for Hagen 40g
$70 For Tank and stand together

I also have a metal stand for the 40g. Much lower than the original to accomodate an overflow from the 80g - free with tank and stand combo.

$5ea 10 gallon (2)
$5 15 gallon

Protein Skimmer - works very good. Lots of stinky stuff from this one.
$50 Saline Solution CC Skimmer. Rated at 50 to 75 gallons – yeah right.
c/w Air pump, Hagen 201 PH, some wooden air diffusers.

Powerhead
$30 Hagen 802 Quickfilter Powerhead – 3mo old
$15ea MJ1200 (2) Powerhead
$15 MJ900 (1) Powerhead *** AJ_77

$75 Magnum 220 Canister Filter + one new filter pad

Rock & Sand
Lots of stuff – but it will have to go second to last.

Well I am overwhelmed by all the responses. I thought everyone was on holidays.

Please look again at the original post. I have marked each item with the name of the person claiming it. Plus I will be adding new items as I think of them.

For those of you that want the powerheads, I would like to hold them in reserve until the tanks are empty or of a greatly reduced bio-load.

I am home during the day all this week. You are all welcome to come by to look thing over or to pick up an item of interest. Bringing containers or bags would be a good idea.

Please PM me for a phone number and address.

Kim I think you've got a deal on the tank, let me check with my dad and make sure he wants the stand in his office. The tank isn't drilled is it? Doesn't matter either way.

Hey Kim ... Thanks for the HUGE bristleworms  ... settled right into the refugium and disappeared ... The Clowns/BTA are trying to find a " foothold " and the wrasse disappeared for awhile but is venturing out now ... Thanks again Kim

Very glad to hear that everyone is starting to enjoy their new and bigger home.

Are the Clowns hanging around the BTA waiting for it to open up?

Once again thanks for taking them home with you.

Kim I'm not sure when my dad (with his minivan) will be able to come pick up the tank and stand. Is it OK if it doesn't happen for a week or so?

Thanks.

I'm back. Took a week off to go to Beautiful BC - a little smokey though. I hope it will rain soon out there for eveyone's sake.

Scooter is still here Deb.

Everything survived the holiday. In fact it looks better than when I am around. Big thanks to my neighbours.

The Scooter Blenny and last Conch went tonight - thanks Deb.

Rasta, how are the Clowns and BTA doing?

Just the Yellow Tang and a few corals left to go.

Maybe I will be able to take pictures (new digital camera) of the rock and post them soon.

The clowns are hosting in a hammer cause the BTA ran for the caves when he saw my Metal Halides  ... he has pretty much hid since we got him home however we saw him peek from between 2 rocks last nite and I opened the space a bit for him and today he had most tentacles showing but the foot was still in the cave ( dont know exactly how he got in there as there is no direct route to his location but it is pretty open back there ) ... not too worried as he looks awesome but would like to give him some shrimp so hope he stays out tomorrow as he went back into the cave when the halides were shut off

Cheers

Steve, thats normal behaviour for a BTA. The foot they will want to keep hidden under a ledge, in a cave, or in a crevasse, and they will only want to keep their tentacles and possibly oral disk into the light.

That's starting to be a well travelled BTA. Glad to hear he found a good home.

Do you still have the Maxi-jet 1200's Kim? A friend of mine just had 2 crater while using his wave maker.

Rasta:

I second what Tony has said. I just wonder if the Clowns will move back after the BTA gets settled.

Deb:
Hope Scooter has settled in. Have you been able to keep track of the Conchs?

ABreefkpr:
I still have all of the hardware, but can't let it go until someone buys the Yellow Tang and the corals.

I thought this would all be gone by now, but it looks like the season to start a new.
