Here's a rough of what I personally have in mind. Might do a bit more on it a bit later. I think I got the text wrong as well.

Very nice Quinn ... hopefully we can get a few more and then vote on the most popular

I vote for digitization and use of Deb's.

What do we plan on using this logo for. We need to make sure it reduces and enlarges well (vector format therefore, preferably), also that it is easy/cheap to print (high resolution).

I like Quinn's first one - he seems to have time on his hands and the requisite skills.

Could the mountains be a little less cartoonish in their angles? And while I like the tang outline, it is definitely an "in-club" depiction (as in, no one else will have a clue what that cutout represents). Have you tried with the actual tang picture in there? Is a Yellow ubiquitous enough, or are there others that would prefer a Purple, maybe with a white outline to set it off?

Just thoughts... nice job!

I'm with you. The mountains were the first thing that I was going to edit. I have a job at work that has the mountains I am looking for, but heck if I'm going to drive there on a Sunday to email it to myself. As for the tang, good point. I will see if I can make it a little more significant to the average joe.

We can all use it for an avatar and also a future website as well ... ball caps / T shirts / sweatshirts etc can be sold to bring in speakers like Charles Delbeek, Steve Tyree and Anthony Calfo. We have to start somewhere and a logo is a good place to start

If I may, I think that's it not quite compact enough for what you're wanting to use it for. Also, sometimes process colours (wide ranges that must be printed using CMYK presses) are best avoided on logos due to the flexibility that is required, and it's, in my opinion, essential to do artwork for print in a vector application, that is, Coreldraw, Illustrator or Freehand (blah). But hey we'll find out when you run the vote right.

How would you change it to make it work ... I am not into image making but thought I would at least put something on the table to get the ball rolling

That is great except I have no clue what you just said LOL ... please put in layman terms

But hey we'll find out when you run the vote right.

The whole idea is to get a bunch to choose from

Here's yet another logo concept.
I was feeling creative tonight and did up a quick illustration.
I still need to sort out the font & placement. I put some in temporarily to give a rough idea of what it may look like.

Finished one will be up tomorrow.

PS: I'm selling my reef set-up - see the buy/sell section for more...

Hey, I like Rasta's first one. It looked pretty cool. Maybe a little flowery. The second one looked a little to blocky.

Revised mountains. Still haven't got to the fish yet. Also going to try some different layouts and colours. Maybe try to jazz it up a bit. In my opinion though a logo is a branding tool and nothing more. It's not like a poster you hang on a wall to admire. It acts as an identifier and really nothing more.

Quinn: not sure if I like those mountains better - the others seem to make a clearer border between land & water for some reason...?

Steve: please tell Kayla that hers is AWESOME.

I like them all.

Quinn -- if I may -- the fish needs an eye. I dunno ... it's an awesome logo but I am creeped out by the fish because it looks like a zombie tang or something. Put a dot there maybe!!!

Well Hello Everyone! Since my other half is being slow to post some pictures for me, I thought I would login and try to do it myself!

Hope you like what you see! I was just trying to waste some time.

Ok... so as I'm writing this I have no idea how to get the links here, so you'll just have to go into the gallery to see the pictures, there's 4 of them, as I at least managed to get them that far!

I like the second one the best. Just add the clown from the third picture and I would think you would be the winner.

Very nice job ,Quinn
But having BOTH, ocean and mountains I think I can safley say that mountain don't FLOAT.
Also my 2cents; being from outside of "Cowtown" people equate Calgary with Stampede and that tower(like Tor.) and only skiers and Westerners know about Sunshine or Green Valley....Marmot Basin...... .(.just in case a taste of your city is wanted in the logo). Hope the logo works out, it may spur-on someones (anyone(s) come to mind??)from Victoria to create one tooo...
Splendid idea about the avatars!
