Is it worthwhile to start my cycle without my skimmer? I've been doing my build for my 165G tank and basically have come to a bit of a problem with my skimmer. I think I can fix it pretty soon. But Im just wondering if while Im in the process of fixing it if its worthwhile to start my cycle without my skimmer running?

My sump would be circulating water as per normal, but just no water would be skimming. Tell me what you think.

Go ahead. Dont need skimmer untill you get livestock, well, you don;t acctually need a skimmer period. There are people here who are very successfull with skimmerless tanks.

Don't need a skimmer for cycling, in fact it might speed things up without one.

My first 6 sw tanks (starting in the late 80s) were all skimmerless, so yeah, go for it.
