I am going to have a 90 gallon tank soon. I was wondering what part of tank are considered as high/medium/small flow if i am going to put 2 of my powerheads (a 850 GPH) from each side of the tank. to make a circular flow

I am thinking high would be very near power head and then medium probably at the middle of the tank and low would be the end of the tank. But i am not sure if 2x850 GPH is best or I need higher or lower power head. I have lots of LPS that requires medium to high flow, but not sure what is consider medium or high for them.

Thank you for your helps

No comment on the flow thing but just wanted to say Yay for you on the new 90! I so wanted that set-up but timing just wasn't in my favour! Good for you and looking forward to pics!

Thanks Carmen

You have a very nice tank already. I am looking forward to bring home that tank and took some pictures once things are clear. Probably need more LR

I used a AC 110 power filter, rated @ 500gph, a Tunze 6080 stream pump @ 2200gph and a Hydor stream pump rated @ 1200gph.

This was for both sps but also when the tank was full of soft corals. Never kept many of the softer lps though.

had a 75g with 3 MJ1200 and another PH about the some size. Would call low flow but the Xenia and polyps I had then seemed to like it.

For a idea what others have for flow, see this thread (http://canreef.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=48372).

I wouldn’t use regular powerheads in an lpa reef. The narrow current is not recommended. Use flow/ stream pump such as Tunze, Koralia, Rio, sunsun etc
