View Full Version : Vancouver Frag and Gear Swap - AUGUST 23rd

fkshiu
07-31-2009, 05:57 AM
WHO? - All reefers and SW enthusiasts of the lower mainland

WHAT? - Bring your frags and used gear to sell and talk some reef at the same time in an informal atmosphere

WHEN? - Sunday, August 23rd from around 11AM to whenever

WHERE? - My backyard (3165 East 45th Avenue, Vancouver - between Joyce and Rupert)

HOW? - Swap meet style by popular demand (bring and sell your own crap!)

If you will be selling items, please reply to this thread so we have an idea of how many tables we need. A good tip for selling frags is to bring pictures of the mother colony to show off.

If you've never been to one of these things, it is a great way to grab a lot of equipment and great frags at fantastic prices! Who wouldn't want to spend all day talking reef with a bunch of friendly reef nerds? (Plus, there's a good chance the BBQ will be in action as well :D )

Never having been to a swap, what is the setup for holding frags?

Everyone brings their own frags in coolers or whatever. You should have pictures of the frags/colonies so people can see what they're buying. Then it's market capitalism at its finest: set a price and negotiate away!

Thanks for the event!

Im sad that people inned and outed so early but happy there was less mouths to share those awesome ribs with. But I may have to retract my earlier statement that the swap is the best style. I think I am leaning back to the standard auction. People stayed longer and I had the chance to have many more conversations. But talking about Caymans in pants was a well discussed conversation this weekend.

Can't wait til the next round. I will try to be a seller for the future. Maybe I'll cut a few heads off the orange lobophyllia.
