People NEVER post pics of dead corals especially after a total loss. Takes courage I imagine! Thanks for showing us...I for one haven't seen pics like these too often. They still look beautiful.

^I have a feeling that if I ever get into SPS I'll likely have a small collection of dead coral skeletons gracing my mantle.

I started collecting a few... but then I changed my mind and turned them into calcium reactor media.

Those do look kind of neat. My seahorses would love them as hitching posts!

It is sad, but yes they are still beautiful! I just bought a couple dead pieces to get my GSP to grow on. I think it will look cool.

I posted these about 4 years ago after I lost my entire tank due to a defective heater. your looking at two 30 gallon buckets pretty much full of coral.. the second bucket had a bunch more added after the pic. just for referance the milli skeliton in the second pic is about 19" accross. was one of my prized corals.. I also had a green cap that was about the same size which is not in the pic..

I think if all of my coral died, I would feel so ashamed that I couln't display them in my house! If it happend to me, I'd tear it down, and crush it into reactor media to make new corals!! It would give me piece of mind, knowing that even though they died, they can once again bring life:mrgreen:

the other thing to do is bleach them nice and white, then sell them. worth quite a bit for larger ones.

Terrible sights! Comparable to $100 bills ran through a shredder.
