I've always got lots of frags for sale in Prince George. Pictures are mostly for reference and show many but not all of the coral that I frag. Quantities, availability and sizes vary. In general frags are $5 for 1-3" or one head depending on the type of coral, sometimes I ask more but often I ask less. Most types I've at least attempted to mount to my own 2" frag disks. If anyone is in the area and wants to stop in and have a look send me a PM and let me know roughly when you will likely show up.

I also travel down to Vancouver and the island to visit family several times each year so I can deliver to anyone willing to meet up with me along my way during those trips. But because it can be several months between trips I will not reserve anything for people until a week or two before I am ready to go. I maintain a list of people who are interested in this delivery system, if you would like to be added to the list send me a PM.

Available as of October 24

I'll be driving down through the interior Thursday Oct 8th and then stopping at Ocean Aquatics Friday Oct 9th in the morning as I travel to visit family for Thanksgiving. If anyone wants to meet (at OA) or have me deliver (in the interior) frags along the way send me a PM and we can try to work something out.

I'll post an updated list of what I have or can make available soon.

When are you coming by the Vancouver area next? It sucks I just discovered this site, as we were just in Prince George last week for a family wedding. We'd be interested in buying a lot of your frags. Your the person from the other website, right? I have to consult with my partner if those dates and times work for us. Then we'll have to get an exact list of what we want and the final price, etc. Thanks for your time!

mitchelljared Welcome to Canreef! I'll be at OA Friday Oct 9th in the morning like the post above states. If that works for you we can work out the details through email. Or just give me a shout the next time you're in PG and you can drop in.

This is my revised list of available frags as of today. Sometimes I mount the frags onto plugs, other times I have them hanging from fishing line, but most of the time I just frag as needed (due to space constraints) when someone wants something.

I was trying to take some good close up shots of various acros that I have for sale this evening. Unfortunately I succeeded and as a result I discovered that I have F@#$%^G Red Bugs again! I wiped all of these little bastards out over a year ago and now they're back. I've given every new SPS purchase I've made an overnight interceptor bath but it seems that wasn't enough. So once again I have to treat the tank... I'll be following Melev's system again for this one and starting my first treatment tonight. http://www.melevsreef.com/redbugs.html

This comes at a really bad time when I know a few people were hoping to get some frags from me. I'll still sell them but it will be at your own risk. My advice is to QT them (which we should all be doing everytime anyways) and observe them for any potential pests before adding them to your tank.

I probably will be down in March and I'll post in this thread or start a new one as soon as I've been able to pick a day to drive.

I would also be interested if you are planning on a trip in March

I did my first treatment with Interceptor last night and it seems to have worked. I cant see any red bugs this morning but I'll still treat again on the following two Mondays. One item of interest is that the interceptor pills I'm using actually expired last month but they still seem to be doing their job.

Leah
11-17-2009, 07:27 PM
I really wouldn't worry about the expiry date on them in the least
Didn't read that you had bug's till after I had posted that really is kinda funny as I was thinking that I would be safe getting stuff from a private tank
Maybe I jinxed you  I am sure it will be fine by then.

whatcaneyedo
11-17-2009, 07:37 PM
Actually there are (at least) two people in PG that currently have red bugs in their private tanks and they are unwilling to treat their systems because they dont want to kill their shrimp. Lucky for me because of my snowflake eel I dont have any shrimp or crabs. I originally got them two years ago from a third person in town who is no longer in the hobby. I have no idea where I got them this time because I've been very careful to QT and treat each new SPS addition. They must have hitched a ride with a soft coral, LPS or fish I guess...

I really wouldn't worry about the expiry date on them in the least

Whatcanyedo,
When I first started keeping marines (way back in 1989 I think), there was no such thing live rock or skimmers avilable to the public.
I had an undergravel filter and bleached coral skeleton. One Powder blue Surgeon, one Yellow Tang and 3 Blue Damsels.
When I was cleaning the coral (bleaching it ..... yes I know everyone is cringing now, but back then it was Fish only and mechanical filtration, no corals). Anyway I lifted the coral and out fell these little "half moon" shaped shrimps. (Isopods I think)
I immediately called the LFS and asked what to do.
He replied that if I gave him a big bag of my sand, he's give me ANY fish in the shop.
Apparently the eggs came in in one of the fish (I reckon PBS) and bred like wildfire! He was the first to set up live sand and actually sell these Iso's in Scotland apparently!
Just a little anecdote ......
Kenny

Monthly bump. My LPS selection still pales in comparison to my SPS and softies because my frag tank is still pretty full and most of the LPS need time to grow before I can frag them again.

The 3 red bug treatments are complete and there are no more of the little buggers to be found. I haven't noticed much of an improvement in the colors of the previously infected corals but at least the polyps seem much larger.

I've been hording shipping boxes and coolers from various livestock orders in town because in the spring I think I'm going to try shipping for the first time. However expect some of my asking prices to go up a little bit when that happens (supply and demand). I'll also start listing quantities available as I'm sure some coral will be more in demand than others and I cant produce a lot of volume at this time.

I was just accepted into a course that will keep me busy until March 28th. If I dont start work right away after that I'll be traveling down to Victoria for a couple of days but if I do start working I might not have much free time for a while... So, for people waiting and hoping for me to be making a spring delivery to the lower mainland that may not be happening. However I still plan to start shipping in the spring so I'll keep this thread up to date with information on that.

I'm busy in school right until the end of March but then I may begin working right away (which I desperately will need for the money) so I dont know if I will have time to drive down in the spring or not. However if I dont have a job to start at as soon as my course is done I will drive down the first week of April. At this point everything is pretty uncertain so we'll just have to wait and see.

I'm getting a bit of an onslaught of PMs so perhaps I should provide a little more information.

I want to drive down through Vancouver to Victoria for a few days in the first week of April. If I do so I'll be able to deliver my inexpensive frags like Santa Clause to people along the way like I did back in August. However I may have an offer for work around that same time that I cannot turn down. By the last week of March I should have a pretty good indication of whats going to happen so at that time I will make up a new list including actual quantities of what I have (or can produce) for people to choose from.

If I dont make it down I will likely be bursting at the seams and have to ship a few packages of frags out in order to get rid of them (local demand kind of sucks). However I'm still pretty apprehensive about shipping. I dont have much faith in UPS or the airlines and I dont make any money off of this to begin with (selling frags covers most of my tank maintenance costs but not all) so it all just means more time and work...

A big thanks to those people who lightened my load and took some frags from me on this trip though the lower mainland. If anyone reading this would like me to contact them before I come down again send me a PM and I'll add you to my list as well.

I'm planning to move in the fall of this year so I am trying to downsize the amount of coral that I have. So some types I'll be selling off entirely rather than constantly fragging them. I'll begin to update my list and pictures to reflect this.

I've got a new frag disk of the blue ones underway. They should be attached on their own and forming new polyps in about two weeks. They're a little more difficult to frag because I have to cut each polyp off one at a time and then glue them down (same as the solid green ones). The other types grow long stalks and form clusters which are easy to just pull off and then elastic down.

Thanks for the shipment. Corals arrived happy and now doing great in my tank. For anyone who hasn't bought from Russell before, let me say the frags he sells are well worth the money, and he ships them extremely well packed and warm..mine arrived and I think the corals thought they were still in their tank, they were open and the water temp was still really warm. Looking forward to getting more in the future.

Local guy so don't know about his shipping. But with the way he is, I would assume he is pretty anal (in a good way) in the way he packages and ships. But I must say that his frags are really nice and healthy and if he says he's keeping something for someone he sticks to his word. Some are more like little colonies rather than frags.

Shipping coral is not something that I like to do and if I could get rid of everything I grow locally I would. So thank you all for being patient and understanding while I figure this out. So far so good, I've sent out 5 packages without any problems (at your end). However I have spilled a lot of water on myself lately... note to self: Petland fish bags are absolute garbage.

I'll continue to ship as long as my supplies last and as long as my coral growth can keep up with demand. If it gets to the point where I simply do not want to frag anything further or I can no longer find cooler/box combos to use I'll take a break for a while.

Would you be willing to ship to southern AB. I'm looking more for LPS but I'm sure we could put together a group order.

Greyhound would take about 23 hours to get there which in my opinion is too long and I use used coolers and boxes that have 'live tropical fish' written all over them so I cant send by Purolator or UPS.

I've been mostly using old shipping cooler/box combos from past orders with J&L. They're about 18"x15"x12" and I can usually fit up to 30 bagged frags in there. I cut some pretty generous size pieces from most of my colonies because I'm generally fragging out of necessity. Bigger pieces require larger bags and more water.

I've just updated the first post with what I have that is properly ready to go. The only thing that is truly available is a spot in line on my wait list as I don't produce a lot of volume and I don't have the time right now to deal with a lot of inquiries. August was a busy month, I sold frags to 5 people so my selection is pretty much shot except for frags from the really large colonies that I frag heavily.

I will be getting some frags from Russell and he is shipping next Saturday (Oct 2nd). I have only ordered 10 frags, so there is still room for approximately 20 more bags. The total cost of shipping is $30, so if anyone is interested, please pm me and we can share the shipping costs.
Thanks,
Raj
