I'm setting up my first refugium (gravity fed), in a couple days. What's your suggestions for a power head? Will it be in my best interest to use low flow or blast it through? I fell like I'm talking about a shower head! Thanks. F.F.

The ref is only going to be a 10gal. on a 48gal. tank.

I could not even guess at what size powerhead but a lower flow is desireable.

You'll probably need something around 100GPH and have to tune it ;) .

Only flow I have going through my refugium is enough to keep up with the gravity feed.

I figure I only put 50-100 gph through mine with the return split from my Mag9. Half the return goes to the tank, other half goes to the refugium.

I also have a very small gravity fed return, so I can't really put too much flow into it. I have considered putting one of those little Mini-Jet powerheads in there, but only to move the surface water to prevent the scum buildup I get.

Oh yeah, mine is a 10gal refugium.

PS... I segregate my male Bangaii in there for a couple weeks after he releases the babies he was carrying in order for him to regain some strength before going back in the main tank with the female. (You'd be tired too if you hadn't eaten for more than 3 weeks) He seems to do just fine in there with the small amount of current.
