Has anyone ever ordered livestock from Blane Perun?
Is it too much of a hassle to get zoos and mushrooms from the US?
Does anyone know what's involved?

Thanks,
Noel

Yeah, been there... but there's no info on importing and what's involved.

I was wondering about CITES permits and whether anyone here has one.
Are they issued per order? or can one get a "yearly permit"? or whatever?
And what is the cost?

Has anyone here ever had a permit, or gone through the process?

This will start you in the right direction as to the particulars for CITES, the permit requirement are quite extensive and the cost ($200 or so) make smaller orders extremely difficult.

Frags, my experience with Dr. Mac was that he was unwilling to get the permit just for frags.

I see from the CITES website that zoos and mushrooms are not on the list. Does this mean you don't need a permit for them?

From what I've been able to find out from Environment Canada's CITES website, it is only hard corals that are regulated under CITES. Soft corals are not.

Also the cost of a CITES permit for export from the US is $25.00.

Still digging...

Hey Noel,

Can I suggest that one of you actually contact Blane, as he posted one time 6 weeks ago and hasn't been back since. I get the feeling he isn't checking up on this thread!!

You have posted the exact cost of the Cites but what about the required inspection by US Fish and Wildlife, think thats another few bucks....

From what I've been able to determine, the CITES permit regulations only apply to species that are listed, which does not include soft corals.

Wouldn't this mean that NO permit is required for these?
