It's a slime mold. Not a great name as they are actually more of a type of protista then a mold. You can think of it kind of like a giant amoeba.

Tubifex are white are they not, you did however say worms, so you win the ginsu knives and the luggage.

And I believe Tubifex worms are often red as they can produce alot of hemoglobin to survive in oxygen poor environments.
