I was in Chapter's today doing my monthly reading :D and noticed an article on overdriving NOs.
It is written by someone from icecap and made several interesting points.
1. over-driving T12 lamps (the NO fluorescents we are used to) dosn't work.
2. Overdriving T8 fluorescents does.
He measured light output on new bulbs, after 100 hours of burn, after 6 months and after 10 months. The T8s lost 7% output after 100 hours, 9% after 6 months and 17% after 10 months.
I think the were overdriving X2 (62w vs 32).
Unfortrunately they did not do a spectral analysis, but it looks like the T8 fluorescent is a viable alternative.
Of course, he says this will work on Icecap ballasts only
Titus. What type of tube were you using?
Fred.
