My tank has been up and running for about 1.5 years now, and so far, so good...

But I am curious - how long can one reasonably expect a tank with significant external plumbing to run before something starts to leak?

How long has your system been running leak-free? How big a disaster did it create when it started to leak? (Inquiring minds want to know )

Mines been up and running for 3yrs. I can't say its leak free because I have some salt creep around a few plumbing joints but so far so good

I've had tanks run leak free for 10+ years, in my 28 years on keeping fish I have had two failures, both on homemade tanks, one 60 gal caused over 5k damage to the house:eek: and I know the local shop has 40+ tanks as old as 18 years and not one leaker yet.

I have had several tanks with plumbing survive 5-6+ years. I never seem to keep them any longer than that.

Including my freshwater days, I've had close to twenty tanks of different sizes and only had one leaker; an old metal-trim 15 gallon Cichlid breeder.

Leaks are few and far between

The last guy I heard of asking where all the water was coming from was the Captain of the Titanic

That's very encouraging. I always tend toward being a "worry wart"...

I guess the problems are fewer and farther between than I thought.
