In view of the nice and warm summer to come I was thinking about ways to cool down my 29 cube. I was thinking of putting little fans above the back compartments do cool it down. Has anyone ever done something similar?

if heat ever became a problem for my old bc8, i would just leave the feeding lid open. If things become drastic, just point a fan into the open feeding lid; it'll look ugly, but it'll work.
Fans of any sort work REALLY well, just blow across the water surface. HUGE evaporation so you have to top off every day or sort out an ATO.

If you are really concerned about looks then you can upgrade the fans that go inside the hood. These kits are supposed to work well but cost a lot more than simply lifting the hood and aiming a large fan at the surface. Check out nanotuners.com. Here is the link to the DIY air cooling page:
