I woke up this morning to discover my Solaris I4 which has lights equivalent to 400 W is not turning on. Tried unplugging and plugging back in but no luck and since the company is now bankrupt there is no one I can call for suggestions. Does anyone have one of these? Anyone know of a used good quality 72 inch all in one canopy light I can buy? I'm fracked.

I don't personally own one of these, but have read other forums/threads with similar issues. In your case it sure sounds like a power supply problem which may not be that difficult to fix. You just need to determine where the power supply is, what its specs are and you may just be able to find a suitable substitute locally in an electronics outlet or some place similar. In the end the fixture simply consists of a ton of LEDs which are essentially low voltage DC devices. Try an internet search for Solaris power supply issues & I'm sure you'll find something. HTH and good luck.

from the sounds of it you are out of luck. the modifications PFO made on the computer server powersupplies did two thing. 1) caused them to overheat and die, and 2) voided the manufacture's warenty. they were offering free replacments of a new design but since they are bankrupt....

this seams to be a problem in our hobby, people are in so much of a hurry to get the "newest and best" product out they don't do proper long term testing and evaluations. some do but most don't.

anyways here is a link I found in a bout 25 seconds on it.

here is a thread about one way to fix it.

and here is how to do it yourself, using a common ATX power supply

The comments were appreciated, folks. I sent an email to the fellow you recommended and he responded almost instantly and through his help, I have got two of the three banks running again. He'll be sending me more complicated instructions on getting the third bank running. Thanks again for the help folks. I spent a truckload of cash on this Solaris and I don't want it to die just yet. I want to squeeze every ounce of life out of it that I can. My corals love it.

If your handy with a soldering iron, Im pretty sure you can rig up a new power supply. If they used Modded computer supplies initially, I know there are some BIG comp supplies out there now. there easy to mod.
