OK, time has come to start building the stand for my new tank. Well, new to me tank. 60"l 24"w I have 2x4's and 2x6's here for the build, but just wondering from those who have built their own, anything you would have changed? Any suggestions, tips?

Thx in advance

Pics of your stand would be appreciated too, can see how you built yours :D

Here's one I built for a 75g. Waaaaay overbuilt. I wouldn't do that again way too stinkin heavy.

After the framing I used plywood on everyside except the bottom, and put the shelf on the lower part. I also put some bracing on the bottom part as I did on the top part. Then I used a router to cut out the back opening, and the front door so that the door could be flush mounted since I was going to cover it all with slate, but I never got that far. ;)

Great looking stand. It looks like the same kind of plan that I followed on RC. Just finished building mine not too long ago. I used this persons plan to do mine from RC. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1169964

I just finished putting the doors on mine about an hour ago for my new tank  I stupidly forgot to take pics of the build part of it. Hers is some pics of part way still needs some trim and touch ups but... Its back to back 2x6 around the top 1 in the middle and 3 2x4's for each leg 5/8" ply top and bottom. Measures 54L x 32W x 31H
