Amazing macros! How far away from the camera was the seafan for that closeup? Or did you zoom in and crop to make it take up the whole frame like that? I have to learn how to take pictures like that!! (I have a DSLR and a macro, but haven't been able to take pictures anywhere near like that..)

Awesome pics.

Some good techniques that I've picked up on macro aquarium photography are:

- nothing beats a high quality dedicated macro lens
- shoot in RAW
- turn off all circulation
- use a good tripod
- make sure both sides of the aquarium glass are conspicuously clean
- shoot as straight on to your subject as you can (avoid angling the lens at the aquarium glass)
- use a 2 second shutter delay
- don't be afraid to crop all over
- learn to use photo editing software (nothing fancy needed, just the basics)
- shoot the same photo on multiple settings
- lower your ISO if you can
- fish require very quick shutter speeds because they are moving, corals are far more forgiving.

The most important thing is to be patient. It usually takes me dozens and dozens of tries before I'm happy with one.
