This stuff actually occurs in our coastal waters, despite the fact that it's actually a tropical species (it's an alien here, but a mostly beneficial one believe it or not). I've always wondered if one could collect a bit from a cove around here and successfully acclimate it to tropical reef temps. You'd have to acclimate realllly slow though. worth a shot if you or someone you know knows how to snorkel/dive.

I have some growing on my live rock. I don't really want it but have been saving it for anyone that wants it, so I could chip the rock and remove the holdfast if you want to mount itl or just send some branches if you just want it floating. I live in Nanaimo so I could probably send some to Vancouver by bus or float plane(COD). PM me if your interested.
I'm looking for the floating sargassum that forms huge matts in the ocean. Has anyone ever seen it offered for sale?
