Tried to buy sedra pump from JL but they are not needle wheel, only reg. impeller. So i ended-up buying a needle wheel impeller for my sedra 5000.

Well then, it looks like Tang Daddy who has misinformed me.

and the question remains if this skimmer is equipped with the needle wheel version or not...?

That is called a paddlewheel impeller. Yes, I know it looks the same as a standard impeller, but it works the same way as a needlewheel by chopping up the air/water mixture. Most skimmers use needlewheels. Having a paddlewheel on a skimmer pump is quite rare.

Gobytron my 2 sedra 5000's are needle wheel, I am quite suprised this is not.

however one must never assume anything because you know what that leads too.....

I honestly was going to run down to JL and ask them why they told me none of their sedras were needle wheels....
I would have definitely made an ass out of me.

I have actually been trying to find a brand new needle wheel sedra with no luck.....
maybe you could point me in the right direction?

I have hijacked this thread so bad now that I think I might have to buy this skimmer.

so whats the difference between a paddlewheel impeller and a standard one?

You can buy them at OA. I ordered mine from Euro-reef direct from usa 'cause I needed some other parts too for my skimmer.
