as my housebuilding is finally coming to an end, I now get to start building my tanks.
just wondering if there is anyone in edmonton that can do a professional job of building at least a few dozen tanks ranging from 20 gallons to 200 plus Gallons
thanks in advance for any advice.

Not likely anytime soon... He just had shoulder surgery last week and will be recouping for 3 months or so.

If you're still looking for tanks, there is a Petcetera in North Edmonton on 137 ave and 127 st shutting down, and they've got a 10 ft by 40ft wall of display tanks. I'm sure if you talk to the right person you can get your hands on them for nothing.

To be honest getting a tank from a pro.even thought its more expensive. it saves a lot of worry.warranty from aquarium illusions is five years.time you price in time to build, tools ,materials ,etc.do you really save? just a thought. dan

FYI the warrenty on AI products is occasionally fictional, and often the extent of the warrenty depends on the level of spender you are.

Aren't their custom tanks built by Concept? That was my understanding and if that's the case the warranty should be good, that's what concept brags about the most.

Yes, AI uses Concept Aquariums to build their tanks. They use thicker glass than factory tanks but you do pay a little more. I got a quote on a 30x20x20 with overflow for about $350. If you need a bunch of tanks built they would probably give you a much better deal. Two years ago I had them build a 24x24x24 w/o overflows and it is a nice tank, I think the price was around $200.

Concept and AI are owned by the same people.

Yeah that was my understanding, so who's had problems with warranty then??

Check with Ed (Saltynuts) He had a 200 something gallon blow on him and damage his entire basement, all he got was a 54 gallon tank instead of warranty or a new tank. PM him.

I don't want to get into too much of this but there are always conditions to warranty, most never bother to even look into them.

Aquariums with a water volume up to 224 gals with length up to 6’; must be placed on Industry approved stand, or a Structural Engineer designed & certified Stand. Aquariums with a water volume over 224 US gallons and with a length over 6’; must be placed on a Concept metal stand or a Structural Engineer designed & certified stand. Aquariums with widths greater than 30” and/or heights greater than 30”; must be placed on a Concept metal stand or a Structural Engineer designed & certified stand.

http://www.conceptaquarium.com/warranty.htm

If you don't meet the conditions provided by the company you can't really expect them to do much. Chances are conditions weren't met but they made a deal.

Well that really sucks, so exactly what reasoning did they give? I can't understand why they wouldn't honor the warranty if all their conditions were met, that's just terrible business. They even claim to have the best warranty in the business.

Crazy, but it's hard to knock the company and their warranty if you don't have all the details. When insurance companies get involved so do lawyers, if the conditions were met you would have gotten the warranty, no doubt about it, it's even on their website. I suspect something was off. Of course the damages aren't covered, they never would be.

Wasn't this before Concept was around Ed?

I do know that the bottom of Ed's tank was actually 2 seperate 1/4" panes of glass laminated together and not straight 1/2" as it should have been. Who ever did build that 230G tank should have known better.

This is BS. I know why you are still carrying a grudge Catherine but let it go.

I wasn't around when all this happened with Ed's tank but I have heard about it. Problems with BVA, and this was just one of many, were the reason they decided to start Concept.

No.
