My fav coral in my tank right now. It has an AWESOME golden sheen to it. Difficult to capture the "essence" of it in photo. I think I have a million pics of it, but these are the first ones I've taken of it under my new halides. :D

I bought this piece from Wicked Frags. Can't wait for it to grow up!

Oh, and one of my RBTA who had FULL bubble effect two weeks ago, and now has next to none. Grr... :(

Bubbles just don't stick around for the most part. But over time they sort of come and go, at least has been my experience. I have this theory about the ratio of the surface area to volume of a cylinder and that of a sphere but it's not really something that could be easily tested. Bubbles or stringy tentacles that is a really beautiful RBTA, I'm jealous. :)

Thanks!! I've heard it's tough to predict whether the bubbles will stay or go, but generally they seem to go. I've also heard though, that RBTAs collected near Sumatra are known to retain their bubbles, but fetch around $200+.

Sure you like my cheap little RBTA, but don't even comment on the awesome Torch? Pff... Hey, did you notice you're 4 posts away from 10,000 posts? Holy post whore!!!!!!!!

It's tough to look at it all stringy like that when it looked like this 2 weeks ago:

Awesome torch!! I had my eye on that one myself when he got it in. My RBTA has kept it's bubbles since I got it about 3 months ago, how long have you had yours for?

I choke a little when I remember how much I paid for the torch, but then I look at it blowing in the breeze, and for some reason I forget. ;) I've only my RBTA for 3 weeks I think. "They" say it has nothing to do with lighting, but the BTA was in my tank for about 5 days when I changed my lighting from T5s to MH, it was bubbly when the MH first went on, and changed fairly quickly since. I know some people have BTAs that are bubbly when only actinics are on, and straight when the MHs are on. Mine doesn't change though.

Call me crazy but I much prefer its current look.

Then again I'll be running only T5 so consider the source =)
