I was thinking of getting a 90g Seastar, but they got that brace in the middle. I'm going to be using a 400w MH. Can I cut out the brace or is it in there for tank strengh and not just to rest a lid on?

it is there for strength, when I bought my 92 I could have got it with out a center brace for a extra 45.00.

Hello,

I wouldn't even try tempering with that brace. Try using 2 smaller MH instead. Otherwise, make sure your brace have plenty of cooling so it won't expand, or change shape, etc.

Thanks guys, I didn't think I could mess with it and I won't. Stircrazy where did you get your 92 from? King Ed has the one with the brace for $199 and J&L had one for $250 not sure if it had brace or not I guess I'll call them tommorow. :D

Trigger,

Order a 90 with PERIMETER or EURO bracing.

my 120 has this.. costs a bit more, but no center brace.

You'll be happy you did.

My tank is a custom size from SeaStar, 36"long, 25"waide and 24" high it is listed in there book as a standard custom size (92gal). I could have gotten perimiter bracing for a extra 45.00 but I didn't. in retrospect I think I should have but to late to worry about that now.

Hagen tanks (90G) have no bracing. Available in most stores.
