Just took a flashlight to our tank, and discovered TONS (and we mean TONS) of these...

Thinking they might be bristleworms. If so, are they bad for our tank (we've got some pretty big ones. 2"s) How would we get rid of them if we need to??

Thanks in advance

They are bristle worms and are harmless detrivores, I've even seen mine eat cyano . Some fish will eat them and I have also seen my cleaner shrimp make a meal of them on occasion.

I have one that is 4 in long. Comes out when food falls on the gravel. Far as I am concerned, I don't mind smaller ones, but this one creeps me out. One day I will catch him, because I am afraid that eventually, I'll have my hand in the tank and will inadvertantly grab him.

If you do it won't be the end of the world . I've grabbed more then my share of them and I think grabbing stinging nettle is much worse

I guess I am misinformed. I have grabbed stinging nettle and its not that bad.
Thanks for the comparison, from first hand knowledge.
Not as worried about it as I was anymore!!!

Good to hear that they don't pose too much of a threat.

It's okay that we have BAZILLIONS though?

Is there a way to slim the amount of them out?
