The stuff sold at www.bulkreefsupply.com is excellent. I buy the High Capacity stuff and I use less to accomplish just what I want. Pricing is good too.

I use the same HC GFO from BRS. I havent tried their carbon. I prefer Kent Reef Carbon to any other, as I like the pellet form, and it is very effective.

Are there any published unbiased third party studies on the effectiveness of different brands of carbon or GFO?

This is the only GFO study I've found and it leads me to believe that the main difference between brands is marketing and not effectiveness. http://www.advancedaquarist.com/issues/june2004/review.htm

I have a reactor already.

Kent Marine Reef Carbon - 2 Gallon

http://www.jlaquatics.com/product/k-rc07/Kent+Marine+Reef+Carbon+-+2+Gallon.html

and
Polyp Lab Opti-Phos Phosphate Remover - 300ml

Can I put both in a same reactor?

Yes, but carbon saturates much faster than GFO and so you would have to change them both at the same time. Kinda a waste of GFO.
