I was wondering if anyone knows of a local shop that gets in decent live rock? I was at aquarium illusions on Thursday and the so called live rock looked like base rock.

When I started got my LR from AI and looked similiar to what they have now. Given time will colour up.

Should also check regularly on Canreef's Buy/Sell forum.

Yeah,
But at the price they want I'll order from JL and get WAY better rock . . .

I, like you am really struggling with finding any kind of decent rock here in edmonton. the rock the stores have is crap and $$ and the rock people do sell on here, by the time I pm them it's already gone or they want to sell the whole lot at once.. it makes trying to get this tank up and running frustrating... keep looking you might come across something... and if you do, let me know lol!

Kelly @ the reef shoppe is great to deal with.. you can't go wrong.

I don't know how much rock he has in right now, but he usually has some nice stuff.

Yeah,
He PM'd me that he had some. I'm looking for completely uncured though as I'm starting a new tank. I find the uncured stuff you get a lot more hitchhikers and life.

I've found some really good rock at AI... but buying all at once, all the pieces you want, no matter what, no matter where... I dont think can ever be found. My collection of live rock has tons of awesome pieces, but its all stuff I've found over the years, collected slowly...

If you go and pick through, or get someone to pick through for you, you should be able to find something you'll like. The recent shipment has lots of round/boring stuff, but I also saw some nice flat pieces in there - got a couple myself.
