My Milwaukee TDS meter is showing me 001 on my RO/DI, but I tested tap water and it is showing 014? This just seems REALLY low and is causing me to wonder if something is up with my meter?

Thank you very much! That's what I figured. I'm only a few steps away from you in DouglasGlen so my tap should be similar.

I might have to take a trip up to WalMart to pick up one of those TDS meters that everyone is talking about as I think mine is defunct.

Maybe you're just wishing too hard that you lived on the Island?? :) Although 14 is a bit high for Victoria

Island dreaming indeed! :)

I picked up a new TDS meter.. one of the units from walmart that everyone was talking about. This morning I tested 247 tap and 0 on my rodi :)

14  hahahaha Did you really need to ASK if your TDS meter was working? ;) My TDS surges to at least 200 or more when I start up a RO/DI fill. Craziness.

On a somewhat related question .. what kind of TDS are Calgarians pulling AFTER their RO? I bought a new membrane recently and it rarely reads under 5. I'm going through DI resin like crazy as a result. My last one seemed to register 0 or 1 way more often and I'm wondering what's more normal. I'm kind of thinking I got a dud membrane or maybe it's a brand or rejection rating kind of thing.

260 in, < 003 out. Queensland

Tony,
Do you flush your membrane? Also, do you have a reservoir tank on your RO/DI? ...and if you run it for a few minutes, then take a sample does it read lower?

Yes, I flush it at the beginning of every fill into the reservoir. I don't know if I'm doing this right, but here's what I do: I leave the bypass valve open until the TDS reads <10, it takes quite a few minutes to get down to that level. It might come down to anywhere from 0 to 2, if I wait as long as 10 minutes on the flush, but even then sometimes a couple hours later I'll come check it again and it's bounced back up to 5 or so.

Hmm... I have always given mine about a 20 minute flush every month or so based on instructions from Aquasafe Canada way back...

I would try removing the DI altogether just to see...

20 minutes! Ok, I never really knew how long you were supposed to flush it for, I can adjust it to 20 minutes and see how much of a difference it makes. Thanks (and sorry for the hijack there Greg!)

Lemme know if that does anything for you, Tony.

And my apologies as well, Greg!

No worries! The more information flying out there the better! :)

I've got an inline as well, usually reads 150-180 in... 000-002 out.. No DI canister yet.. just RO. NW here.
