My cousin used to have a monkey, all it ever threw was poo, I think I'd rather get hit with a rock.

Definitely is sad. Some animals are far too intelligent to be kept in captivity, but I doubt chimpanzees are being caught in the wild anymore unless they are orphaned or injured.

Baby chimpanzees are one of the most sought after animals for poachers and after a stint on television, in rich peoples homes and the like as a juvenile, they often find their way into zoos and sanctuaries as more aggressive and uncontrollable adults.
