So I put up my 72" light fixture this weekend. It already had new PC Bulbs so I added 1 400watt MH to start with and gradually build up to 3. I had it on while I was cleaning the back glass. I was in there for about 10 minutes. That night I didnt feel the greatest but I didnt clue in. Sunday morning I sure figured it out though. Im burnt to a crisp, my scalp even has blisters on it. Has anyone else ever done this?:redface::redface::redface::redface:

Yes, MH (esp. 400w) puts out some serious UV light. If you have DE and forgot to put the shield in then that might explain how bad and how quickly you got burned.

Sounds like a bad one, people often forget or don't know how much UV comes off SE bulbs.
One additional thing to remember with this is that a lot of medications and cosmetic treatment can dramatically increase your sensitivity to UV as well.

Doesn't sound like much fun. Hope you heal quick. SPF Chardonay should help.

Nothing wrong with being a girl  and I think Alfred is a cool name for a tang.

Really? Don't most of our lights have UV glass?
I have my hands/arms in my tank all the time and have never had this happen.
