Anyone had experience with one of these fish. Are they reef safe?

I had one for 3 or 4 years. They are a beautiful little angel. I had it in my 180G Reef with no problems. I added a flame angel and it continually chased the Cherub.

These angels are great. why?

1.because they stay sooo small

2.From what i've seen and read they rarely eat corals

3.they add such beautiful motion to your tank as they can fit in small holes so they search everywhere

I know it's not the same as what you asked about but I have a Bellus Angel and she's great. She will however be double the size(about 7") but is supossed to be completely reef safe.

Edit: Just a heads up that it looks like my downsize is going to happen so she'll have to be re-homed in the next few months.

It's an angel... you take a risk with any of them really.

I find the smaller Angel's to be better though... in my experience.

I think I will phone the LFS this morning and if he's still there I'll go in and get him.

OK, during the snow today with visability on the highway of practicaly zero, I drove into the city and picked him up. Turns out he is not this fish exactly, but in the same family. A beautiful sort of royal blue/purple body with yellow/golden head and blue rings around his eyes. Only about 1" long. He's still in the plastic bag being aclimated. I'll post pictures as soon as I can.

Sounds like a Potters or a Coral Beauty. A picture would be nice.

Sounds like a Cherub to me. Blue body with a yellow face, sounds exactly like a cherub.

IMO Zoaelite chose 2 fish that are so far off the description I have no clue why he even wasted the energy typing it.

That's a cherub :) I think there is a lot of variety in the amount of yellow found on the face.... or maybe some very simmilar subspecies being sold under the same name :)

I had one for years and it was a real character. He was in and out of the rock work and the colours get better with a well balanced diet.

Enjoy your new fish.

why would you be a hypocrite and waste more energy than he did not only not helping on this thread,
but criticizing someone who has probably worked with centropyge angels much more than you?
He suggested two very common pygmy angels because he wanted to help the guy figure out what the fish was. and for what it matters it could have been a potters angel just under-described.

Nice cherub rocketlily, great color

What a cutie!! Makes me want one. Hey maybe that'd be a good angel for my size cube, hmmmm something to think about.
