Fixed, NO....replaced yes. What kind of pump is it? It looks like a Sedra on first look. You will have to get that rubber grommet out so that you can remove the piece that broke off.

new but handy

That looks like a Mag water pump.

You can buy the replacement impeller assemblies. I know J&L sells them but maybe someone local too. http://www.jlaquatics.com/info/353/Mag+Drive+Water+Pumps.html

It's a MagDrive 12. Would a LFS have a replacement impeller assembly?

Haha...you're hilarious...just because every Sedra I touch seizes within 24hrs doesn't mean I'm cursed....or does it?

Hummer, Calgary has some great stores like Red Coral and Golds, so I'm sure someone will have an impeller. I've seen Mag parts on Big Al's site so one of their stores in Calgary might have it too.

Thanks mseepman! I'll check out some local stores to see if they have any. If not then I'll probably make a JL order.

I did the same thing a few weeks ago with my just opened nano skimmer, keep forgetting to look for a new one though, still brand new in the box broken

Whoever thought ceramic shafts was a good idea for impellors should be shot with a chunk of well aged skimmate

I would try to match the Ceramic Shaft with a Fluval one, this is was I did when the shaft broke on my super skimmer. The fluval was a bit longer than the super skimmer, with a little work I was able to grind off the extra for a perfect match. $5.00 for shaft or $40.00 for impeller. This might work for you.
Big Al's should have both parts.

I found the Fluval ceramic shaft on big als site for $7.99. It looks almost exactly the same. It might just work.
