Picked up some nice SPS at a great BOGO price at RC today. Got my first deep water acro. The colors in the picture don't do it justice as usual.

What did you pick up Greg?

:p well perhaps a little later than after dinner but here we go.. I really need to figure out how to take pictures in my tank.. everything just gets so washed out with the blue colour.

Everything looks to be pretty healthy.. the colours in my tank are way better than in the store.. I think Kevin should look at changing the fixtures over the SPS tanks.. In store all the pieces just look brownish but they really do have great colour right out of the bag.

thats what i was sayin yesterday, i almost didnt buy the ones i did but i though oh well im shure they will color up, i put them in the tank with just 4 out of 8 bulbs so i think 1x22k 3xfiji purple and every piece i put in i was like holy crapoly, i bet if they put a nice t5 light over that tank sales might go up, i guess ill have to takepics now that i opened my yapper

i agree they need to do something about those lights. The peices i grabbed looked extremely ordinary at the store but when i got them home and put them under my lights....KAPOW! I scored some good peices. Well, take a look at these pics. The first one is the real gem, it's hard to see from the picture but the tips and growing edges are green and the rest of the body is nice pink. The other one is fuzzier than shag carpet.

Yeh it's much the same story. Everything didn't look amazing till I got it under my T5's. The deep water acro (first picture in my post) really came to life under my T5's.

wish my camera skills were better, picked up 2 nice colonies and a nice acan frag. Looking forward to seeing how those new Zoa's look once they open up a bit more.

Love the first SPS, I eye it every time I'm in the store but could never find a place in my tank for it, I may have to hound you for a frag one day when I figure out how to make more room for some more sps.

Prety sure it is Stylophora Sp. Perhaps pistillata?

Actually I'd say Pocillopora sp. Stylopora pistillata has different looking polyps and a very definite growth pattern. This cauliflower or broccoli look is a classic Pocillopora trait.

Indeed :p

Stylos do have more of a club growth. I'm just going off my Sprung quick reference book :p
