Where did you buy your LR? I got a wonderful little bastard in some of my Bima rock purchased at OceanCity and he looked very similar to yours.

I've had 2 so far with 230lbs of LR, but I don't think it's typical.

ive always been interested in them but would rather setup a tank solely dedicated to it than add it to my reef. maybe down the line for me.

Oh ya, they are a total nuisance in the reef tank, killing off most of my clean-up crew before I could catch him. I still can't catch the second one, I'll likely need to tear apart the rockwork.

i bought some marshal island's rock from red coral and the first time i didnt put the rock in the qt tank first i get a surprise, i put the rock in and a couple hours later i looked over and he was sitting at the front diggin in the sand, ive bought hundreds of pounds of rock over the years but never had one before so not very common i wouldnt say, ive had a small mantis in a 7g tank once and thier great pets i wish i had a spot for him but he cant stay in the qt forever

how about free then, as if nobody wants a mantis for free, he's a 2-3" smasher, sofar he hides most of the time but keeps watch from his little cave, if nobody takes him by sunday morning he's goin into a sump somewhere to fend for himself and id rather he had a home where his coolness wouldnt be wasted

i used to have 2 12"cubes for stuff like this but ive been tryin to cut down on stuff a bit, i would like to keep him but other than a few spots in sumps i dont have a spot right now, im shure if he ends up in a sump ill get a smash in the fingers one day while im messin around

Stomatopods are by far the most interesting invert around. We now have a deticated cube and a divider in our 55 cause we cant get enough of them. After you get over the constant clicking noises.
BTW do you still have him?
