WOW! :hail:

LOVE the first one! I am a sucker for purple coral although I have yet to find much. Especially as nice as that piece.

Looks slow growing maybe?

My favorite of today is whatever is surviving my tank transfer :D

i've considered taking 5 or 6 frags out of my purple acro to the feb frag auction, only concern being my digital camera is screwed up due to water damage and my cellphone camera somehow was not working properly as when i was trying to take some pictures of denis's tank. now what would happen if i show up at frag auction with these frags and no pic of mother colony. I haven't seen aqua-cultured sun coral before. Well, it looks aqua-cultured, is it?

When the tank is doing well (which it is at the moment) all the corals are my favourites but this one stands out pretty good

I also have the mother colony but because it is closer to the lights it is harder to get a good pic of and yes it does have red bugs :)

I just love this one:

http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b365/christyf5/jan%2017%202009/IMG_4869.jpg

todays favorite..heh should me more like my hourly favorite. Every time I look I find another one and ooh and aah over it.

Another favorite, this one has had a rough go. I originally bought it from Props on the board. He held onto it for so long for me that I had forgotten that I bought it from him and it was no longer a frag but a 6" colony (he had a knack for growing corals). It ended up with a ton of caulerpa growing within the branches and I had to frag a goodly portion of it. It was brown for the longest time and then poof. Blue:

Have to be SPS to play?? :p

These two are among my favourite. Purple bipinnate plume, and Gorgonia ventilana seafan. Have a red Ellisella sp. sea whip as well that I consider a favourite but I don't seem to have a closeup shot of it yet.

This Dendrophyllia is my favourite right now. Given to me as a freebie on another frag purchase this guy was just a sliver the size of a thumbnail. It has popped two new heads in the 6 weeks I have had it and looks very healthy, the polyps are extended all the time.

The other night I say two antennae protruding from the main head, it had caught one of those honking pods a full centimeter in length! Good eats.

It is exactly the one you think it is  For some reason I can't seem to get the blue colour to come through on the camera. It is a definite blue in person

All I can say is that growth is spectacular!!!!!!! Good work, I'm a little jealous. And if you are keeping the colour again all I can say is wow. One of the more challenging corals out there, that much more rewarding when it is doing well.

This Acro is changing from pink to white blue after changing from Ushio 250W 10K DE to Hamilton 10K. It's a fairly slow grower but one of my favourites.

It very well could be Cyphastrea as well, which I'm leaning towards right now...hard to ID from a photo though. It's not Pavona though, Pavona is is velvety and not very distinct polyps.

it is pavona. it's a green pavona maldivensis, which are more commonly orange.

I had time to reference some photos this morning and I think your right. It just shows that you cannot categorize based on the common species of a genus!....now how can I get a piece!?

Ephraim
02-22-2009, 03:58 PM
it's not too hard to find, it comes in time to time with aquaculture shipments. And it usually gets passed over by most people. The orange morph is really striking, lights up like a christmas tree under actinics.

Yeah, the orange morph does look sweet as well, thanks!

Oh yeah, Ephraim. I remember when I bought it at Red Coral and you said that you had been looking at it. Did you ever find another one?
