Was considering moving the macro from my 20g fuge to the sump and turning the fuge into a frag tank. Because of the size of the reflector for the 175W SE I'm considering, thinking just leave the macro fuge as is, and place the frags in the sump. Advantage is I'll have more room to mount the reflector.

What's the negative to having SPS frags growing in the sump?

well looks like a good start, make sure you have decent flow like a few extra powerheads.....

I ran a sump grow tank. I used a 250W Hamilton pendent over it. The light alone added about two degrees to the water. The extra powerheads added another 1-2 degrees. Other then that I had a real issue with hair algae and bryopsis in my sump. It did not grow in the main display though. I always run a chiller so the temp never rose above 81 degrees. But without the chiller on the tank would rise above 86 degrees. Atleast that was as far as I let it go. You might have to run a fan in your stand.

Figure as basement sump and with fans would be able to keep the heat down but the nuisance algae and even stuff like coralline is a concern.

I had mine under the stand . You should have a easier time at getting rid of the extra heat then.
