I just picked up this TDS meter from Wal-Mart for $15. I read the discussion thread that was posted about a week ago and thought I would try it. My reading on my RO water is 60 ppm. This seems high and was wondering how often people are having to replace their filters on their RO units and at what reading triggers your replacement? Mine has been running for 5 1/2 months now. It was never tested from set-up because I looked around and couldn't find anyplace that sold TDS meters.

Thanks in advance.

Do you have DI filter as well? Whats the TDS on your tap water from the tap?

I just purchased one as well, although I must say it looks a little different than the one in your photo. The one I have is more rectangular and in addition to the power button it has a 'Read' button. Might be a newer model.

My tap water was somewhere over 200 and I tested a sample of distilled water I had at 003. Don't have a RODI yet so can't comment on that part of your question.

Yes, I have a RO/DI unit. The TDS reading on my tap water was 299 and my RO/DI water was 60 ppm.

60 does seem high. I was told that anything above 5ppm means you should be looking at replacing. Mine is currently at 7ppm and the system is due to get the media replaced.

The TDS meters were in the Automotive department. They were in the very last isle were the Oil was located (at least in my local Wal-mart).

I have the same TDS Meter from Walmart. So far, I've found it to be bang on with my in-line TDS meter from my RO unit

Just picked one of these up, yikes town water read 868ppm (water comes from underground river in an agro community, scary) In my ro bucket it read 27ppm.
