My urchin decided to start thinking bigger. He dumped the frag he usually wears for a tray.

AWSOME.
now i have to ask... do they intentinally pick things up or does it just stick while they are wondering around the tank? i have never had an urchin or read about them so i have no idea. do they do it a some sort of camo?

I believe it is some kind a camo or hat..... It almost always is holding something. It really likes the more expensive frags .

Tuxedo urchins pick up stuff to camouflage themselves. They don't always make the right choices on their materials. I have had mine retrieve frags that have fallen out of reach, and also steal frags. He wore a mushroom around like a hat for about a month. thats how he got the name elmer(as in the glue)

I have a hatpin urchin I would gladly give to anyone who wants it. It is maybe 16" diameter and would be difficult to handle.

That's soooo funny. Urchins always make me laugh. My tuxedo urchin, wore a scarlet hermit for about 3 days as a hat.... the hermit just sat there watching the world with his yellow eyes. Not as funny as the rack part though.

Mine often is wearing Zoas and Palies but usually a colony on a frag plug. I had some nice green clavularia Sp that dissapered in my tank and it found it a month later and was parading it around like it was wearing the emporers new clothes. I let it keep them until it got borred of them and never seen them again. I kinda have a love hate relationship with mine. It all depends what it has on its back.
