Just got an awesome Canon 100mm F2.8 macro lens from Boxing Day. Here's my first few tries. Still trying to get the manual focus down - the DOF is razor thin!

Especially the last photo. Is that a Blasto?

You can increase your DOF in two ways. First (the easiest) is to simply shoot with a higher aperture, however this may require a tripod due to lower shutter speed or a higher iso. The second way is to take multiple pictures at different focus points and then use a technique called focus stacking to overlap all the pictures. Helicon Focus is a program that can do this very easily.

Thanks. These are all tripod pics anyway so I'll play with the aperture and ISO some more.

If you're already using a tripod just try using a higher aperture, and when I say higher I just mean a higher F stop which actually means decreasing the aperture. Sorry for that confusion.
