Finally received the Apogee MQ-200 quantum meter today and took some quick PAR readings on my M80 (HQI) driven Radium 250W SEs (2 months old) with Lumenmax pendants:

A few notes:
- there are two MHs 11" directly above the 1008 and 1214 readings.
- this is an old wide angle of the tank, I've re-arranged the rockwork and there's been a lot of growth since this shot was taken.

Readings for my supplemental lighting (2x160W UVL superactinic VHOs and 2x80W G-man T5HO actinic+ all bulbs ~14 months old) directly below a halide and going deeper are: 116/95/66. For just the T5HOs the readings are: 44/40/26. The readings for the supplemental lighting are pretty consistent across the length of the tank which is not surprising given that the tubes run the the length of the tank.

My 23W CF 5500K spotlight in the fuge (1 year old bulb):
-124 above water 6" from bulb
-54 just below surface
-21 12" deep
-8 20" deep

My 2x39W PC fixture (10,000K and actinic) 12" above my QT:
-42 at water's surface
-15 at 6" deep
-9 at 18" deep

13W CF 6700K desk lamp bulb at 6": 23

Ambient light from 8 x 13W soft white CF potlights in the basement: 2

I am very interested to see what other people's results are when we get this little device around various tanks in Metro Vancouver.

Amazing how fast it drops off every few inches down eh?

What's your plans for tomorrow Franklin?

I'll be home & I'm very curious about how crappy my old Aquaconnects are now for PAR. Been waiting to check out the PAR readings before I change them out.

I also have PC, CFL, HO-T5 & NO Fluorescent lighting to check out with this new toy.

Hi Franklin

I need to get you my payment as part of the purchase group. I would like to test my lights so I have a bench mark to use for future tests

I am so jealous of this purchase. I'm really excited to see how things progress in terms of the PAR drop off over time.

Any chance to get some comparisons with and without the 1/8" plate used with DE reflectors, a little salt deposit on the glass, pumps off and on (water ripples), through eggcrating (thinking lids for fish), window screen (I've used for light acclimatizing)...

I know your thinking go get your own.
